Okay, okay, so I'm reading dumb stuff but since I want to see the movie, I picked up _Alien Resurrection_ by A.C. Crispin in one of those "impulse checkout aisle" displays. Anyhow, after reading the book I'm sure the movie will be incredibly stupid, but that's not going to keep me from going.

Anyhow, two hundred years after Ripley fries herself and the alien inside of her, she's cloned by the stereotypical evil scientist types in the hopes of being able to breed armies of aliens. Ripley has plenty of opportunity to kick alien butt when (surprise, surprise) the newly-bred aliens escape. Throw in a band of mercenaries, and humans and aliens are equally sliced, diced, and cuisinarted to pieces. Dumb and fluffy reading, but great if you need to take your mind off hook for a while.
