_Anno Dracula_ by Kim Newman takes the original Bram Stoker story, stirs in a large portion of the Jack the Ripper story, and adds dashes of other horror notables such as Drs. Jekyll and Moreau to create a new treatment of Dracula story.

Vlad Tepes (Dracula) has married Queen Victoria and rules Britain as its Prince Consort. Because of Vlad's influence, high social standing and upward mobility are quickly becoming the province of the Undead. Meanwhile, Jack the Ripper is killing vampiric prostitutes, and a member of the mysterious Diogenes club and his female vampiric elder try to track down the Ripper.

The story starts out a bit slow, but gradually becomes more interesting. This retelling of the Dracula tale is recommended for those who thought Arthur Holmwood was a twit in the original Stoker novel.
