_Burnt_ by Lance Olsen is yet another of Olsen's post-postmodern novels that caricatures our current society's zeitgeists. A professor teaches modern culture at a small college and finds that he is under a lot of pressure not to flunk the college's football star. When the pressure becomes overwhelming, the professor and his wife undertake a campaign of revenge that goes a little too far. Although amusing, I don't think that this book is nearly as good as Olsen's _Time Famine_ or _Tonguing the Zeitgeist_, which were both so offbeat and strange as to be enjoyable.
