_Children of the Mind_ by Orson Scott Card is the final book in the Ender saga, which begins with _Ender's Game_ (one of my favorite scifi novels of all time), then progresses through _Speaker for the Dead_ and _Xenocide_. In _Children of the Mind_, three non-human sentient species are in danger of being destroyed, and Ender, his adopted family, and others try to save them. Although I enjoyed this novel, one really has to read the first three books in the saga to have any idea of what's going on. In fact, _Children of the Mind_ is a direct continuation of _Xenocide_ to the extent that it begins, almost to the sentence, exactly where _Xenocide_ ended.
