Iain Banks, in his most mainstream novel, _Complicity_, manages
to create an original thriller involving a serial killer. A
journalist, whose life revolves almost solely around drugs,
computer games and kinky sex with the wife of one of his friends,
is the recipient of a series of telephone calls which promise to
lead him to a journalistic coup. Meanwhile, a number of men
with questionable business ethics and practices are brutally and
rather imaginatively murdered. Somehow the journalist finds
himself caught up in the web of the serial killer and is himself
accused of the murders. I found this quite fast-moving and
enjoyable, even though I don't normally like crime thriller type
of novels. Recommended.
