_Crystal Express_ by Bruce Sterling is an early collection of Sterling's short stories divided into three sections: the Shaper/Mechanist stories, science fiction stories, and fantasy stories. Most of the stories are allegorical in nature and have a lot to say about societal and cultural matters. The Shaper/Mechanist stories, which are about the interactions of two sects of post-human, were probably the most interesting of the lot.
