_Dark Sun: The Making of the Hydrogen Bomb_ by Richard Rhodes
is as good as _The Making of the Atomic Bomb_ was, if somewhat
less dramatic. The people and events leading up to the development
of the hydrogen bomb, on both the Russian and American sides, are
carefully laid out in this book in great detail. The explanations
of the theories behind the different bomb designs is done in
layman's terms and are quite good. Additionally, the details of
Oppenheimer's persecution as a Communist after the war are given.
All in all, an excellent book for the history buff who wants to
know everything about the development of the hydrogen bomb.
