_Dracula: Or The Undead_ by Bram Stoker is a previously unpublished
play by Stoker based on the book. The play was written by Stoker
purely to keep others from stealing rights to the stage version
of _Dracula_. As such, the play was written hurredly and consisted
of chunks of the novel cuts out of proofs interspersed with
handwritten bits and incomplete stage directions.
Much of the detail
of the original novel is lost in the play, possibly because of
the shortcomings of staging as well as the sensibilities of the
playgoing public at the time. Nonetheless, for fans of the original
book, the play is an interesting read if only to note the differences
between the play and the novel.
