Although this is a well-reviewed book, I couldn't help but think that it read like a novel written by an author who found out about the rave scene by interviewing a few kids and decided that he was an expert on the subject. This may not be true of this author, but it was the impression I received while reading the book. I suppose that some statement about the rave culture is made in the fact that none of the characters is particularly likeable, not even the goody-two-shoes narrator. There are several rave (no pun intended) reviews of this book that tout it as being fast moving and exciting, but I had a hard time finishing it.
