_Expiration Date_ by Tim Powers is a light, fast-paced story about a future in which ghosts are "eaten" by junkies for the high that the deceased's life can give them. A young boy accidentally eats the ghost of Thomas Edison and is pursued by people who want to kill him to get Edison's ghost. Kinda fun; readable.
