This book crams homoeroticism, cannibalism, necrophilia, blood and gore right down your throat from the very start, in, well... gory detail. Two serial killers fall in love - one would think this would be an interesting (or possibly sick) idea for a novel. I would have enjoyed it more if Brite had been more original and not shamelessly incorporated so many aspects of Jeffrey Dahmer's life into the story. I think Brite is a very talented writer with a gift for image-evoking prose (her book _Lost Souls_ is a wonderfully intense story of white trash vampires in New Orleans; besides, anyone who likes the Cocteau Twins, New Orleans, and San Francisco can't be all that bad :*) ), but _Exquisite Corpse_ tries too hard to be intentionally disgusting. I can handle the gore, but would have liked a less predictable story.
