_Falling Idols_ by Brian Hodge is an excellent successor to Hodge's last short story anthology. Hodge's work can best be described as dark speculative fiction. An exception is perhaps the short that is chock full of inside jokes about the Lovecraftian universe. Other stories are at once deep and lushly written tales of odd nooks and crannies that might exist just outside our idea of normalcy. Recommended.
