_Flame Wars: The Discourse of Cyberculture_ edited by Mark Dery is a collection of pieces covering different aspects of cyberculture. Although the book was published in 1994 (an eternity when discussing the computer age), parts of it are still relevant and timely.

Included are essays on a virtual rape which occurred in a MOO and its psychological effect on MOO denizens; the influence of black science fiction writers, the typewriter, cybererotica and Mondo 2000 magazine. Although at times interesting, many of the pieces exhibited a bit too much literary pretension for my taste.
