_Fool on the Hill_ by Matt Ruff is a funny, modern fantasy about a fantasy writer who gets caught in someone else's twisted idea of a fairy tale. The writer has somehow been slated to become a key combatant in a great battle against a dragon at Cornell University all while trying to find love. The writer lives in a world of dogs and cats that talk to each other, mischievous fairy sprites, and college coeds straight out of Tolkien and medieval times all in a midst of a thoroughly modern and rational world. This book is great fun to read and highly recommended for fans of fast-paced modern fantasy.
